Design for the site
Form, orientation and glazing worked out for the view, the sun and the bush, and shown in 3D before anything is framed.
Approvals
In planning terms a cabin can be a new dwelling, a secondary dwelling or a studio, depending on the site and how it will be used. We settle the pathway first.
Bushfire sites
Most cabin sites sit on the edge of bush. The BAL rating sets the cladding, glazing and decking, so it is in the design from day one.
Cladding and glazing
Vertical board cladding, raked gable windows and the flashing details that keep them watertight, as at Silent Echo in Kangaroo Valley.
Timber interiors
Timber-lined ceilings and exposed beams, set out and finished by our own carpenters.
Heating
Wood heater flues taken through the roof with the clearances and flashing done properly.

Silent Echo is Jared's own cabin in Kangaroo Valley, designed and built by Amity, one weekend at a time over two years. It was born from a simple idea: a place where time slows down, nature takes the lead, and life's simplest moments become the ones you remember most.
